Under the Auspices of UNESCO and sponsorship of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, International Knowledge Centre for Engineering Sciences and Technology (IKCEST) was established. It aims to provide consulting, scientific research, education and other knowledge services to engineering and technical personnel, middle and senior management personnel and foreign students studying in China, technological and management personnel in Belt-Silk countries that are presently operating in China, and technological and scientific personnel in Chinese companies that aims to operate in Belt-Road countries. IKCEST Silk Road Training Base is the first base of International Scientific Technological and Engineering Training that the UNESCO established in Chinese universities. Since November 2015, Xi'an Jiaotong University has undertaken the construction task of the Silk Road sub-center of IKCEST. Aiming at the talent needs of the Silk Road, Xi’an Jiaotong University has hosted training programmes in the fields of big data, medicine, and Internet of Things etc., training over 6000 students from more than 100 countries and regions. Xi'an Jiaotong University is exploring a development path for the Belt and Road talent training, and tries to give full play to its advantages and leading role of higher education.
